How do I check the expiration date of a product?
Our CoA or labeling will provide information about the expiry date for specific products and lots. If this is not available, the product is classified as a retest date management or a product with no expiry date or recommended retest date. The latter two categories have no concept of the expiry date and are products with no fixed expiry date. The technical team will guarantee the quality of the product for one year from the date of receipt by the customer, provided that the product is properly stored following the instructions on storage conditions and that the goods remain unopened during the storage period.
For expiration date managed products, what is the minimum remaining expiration date of the product?
For product expiration date control, Merck 1 will ensure that when the product is shipped out, the remaining expiration date of the product is at least 90 days from the expiration date 3 shown on the product label and the product quality inspection report 2 (except for some special products 4, please refer to the description below).

Note: Products with no Expiration Date / Retest Period/ Retest Date/ Recommended Retest Date are not subject to this expiration control.

- Product quality inspection report: Certificate of Analysis or Certificate of Quality.
- Expiration Date: The expiration date is expressed as Shelf Life/ Minimum Shelf Life/ Expiration/ Expiration Date, for the expiration date that only shows the month, the expiration date is the last day of the month.
- Some special products: some short-life culture medium products (expiration date out of storage control for the product expiration date); some microbiological testing short-life products (expiration date out of storage control for 30 days); Hi-Flow™ products (expiration date out of storage control for 12 months).
If the product has exceeded its expiration date, can I still use it?
It is not recommended that you use it, there is no guarantee of the quality of the product beyond the expiration date, it is recommended that you buy a new batch of the product for experimentation.
How do you provide a warranty on a product that does not have a fixed expiration date?
No fixed expiration date products, according to the provisions of the preservation, within one year for the first time to open the quality problems, can provide a warranty.
When will a product with a recommended retest date management enter the retesting process and update the QC report?
We will conduct a review of product retesting requirements 4 months prior to the recommended retesting date, and if sufficient stock is still available, we will retest. If there is no stock available for us to use, we will no longer arrange retesting.
Please note that the recommended retest date is only our internal management cycle and does not represent the expiration date of the product. Whether or not there is a retesting program or whether or not a retesting QC report is provided by the expiration of the retesting date is not a standard service provided by our company.
Can I use the product beyond the recommended retest date?
The recommended retest date may be extended based on the results of the retest. If the quality of the product still meets the specifications listed in the quality control report after the re-test, the new quality control pass date and the new recommended re-test date will be updated in the quality control report for that lot number.
If we are unable to re-test your purchased lot, we recommend that you perform your testing based on the quality control report to confirm that it still meets the required specifications.
