General description

1-Heptadecanoyl-rac-glycerol (2,3-dihydroxypropyl heptadecanoate) is a monoglyceride. It has been identified as one of the lipophilic compounds present in the woods of the different eucalypt hybrids and in the extracts of wheat bran.

Application

1-Heptadecanoyl-rac-glycerol may be employed as an internal standard during the quantitative estimation of 2-arachidonoyl glycerol (2-AG) in tissue lipid extracts of overnight fasted mice by LC/MS (Liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry). It may be employed as a neutral lipid standard for the analysis of cellular neutral lipid (such as cholesterol, cholesterol esters, wax esters) by HPLC.
Standard for the quantification and characterization of lipid mixtures
