The Assurance^® GDS System is a proven genetic platform which uses proprietary magnetic particles, and the unique PickPen^™ concentration device, to capture E. coli O157:H7 from an enriched sample. This separates the EHEC pathogen from inhibitory background materials to ensure valid PCR reactions for all samples. While other molecular methods rely on dilution protocols that compromise sensitivity to prevent failed reactions, our PickPen^™ IMS technology concentrates E. coli O157:H7 to improve assay sensitivity and detection. The risk associated with matrix variability is therefore removed, increasing confidence in test results.

Secondary Assay for Greater Confidence

The Assurance^® GDS EHEC ID test for E. coli O157:H7 Tq is a 4-channel multiplex assay designed to follow the Assurance^® GDS for E. coli O157:H7 Tq assay. Potential positive enriched samples from the GDS for E. coli O157:H7 Tq assay can be genetically confirmed as containing E. coli O157:H7 per the revised USDA FSIS definition (including stx1, stx2, and fliC:H7 genes). Additionally, the GDS EHEC ID assay can also be used to confirm isolated colonies from presumptive positive samples for E. coli O157:H7 as part of the cultural confirmation.
