General description

Cre重组酶是衍生自P1噬菌体的38 kDa DNA重组酶。它对P1 DNA中发现的34 bp DNA序列（loxP）具有高度特异性。它催化两个34个碱基对的LOXP位点之间的位点特异性重组。其作用是将噬菌体基因组维持为溶源状态的单体单位拷贝质粒。当与DNA结合时是同源四聚体，属于“噬菌体”整合酶家族。抗Cre重组酶抗体可用于确定转基因动物中基因操作的成功。
