Bromoacetic acid can be used:
  • As a quaternizing and alkylating agent.
  • For carboxymethylation of poly(ethylene glycol) for bacterial adhesion experiments.
  • For the synthesis of C60-fused lactone in the presence of Mn(OAc)3·2H2O.
