General description

Fluid K is suitable for testing specimens that contain petrolatum, oils, or oily solutions. The fluid′s composition complies with the European Pharmacopeia (EP) 2.6.1, United States Pharmacopeia (USP) 71 and Japanese Pharmacopeia (JP) 4.06. This is a light-yellow liquid with a pH of 6.9 ± 0.2 at 25°C. It can be stored at 15-25°C (protected from light) for 12 months. A single box contains 4 bottles of 300 mL of fluid, each bottle with a screw cap with septum closure that reduces the risk of cross-contamination and optimizes the disinfection procedures.

Application

Fluid K is used as diluting or rinsing fluid for sterility testing on samples containing petrolatum/oil. It can be used in combination with the STERITEST® sterility testing system and in bioburden testing to rinse membranes and dilute/dissolve samples. The fluid can also be excellent for rinsing pathways of medical devices, and for samples that are difficult to filter or dissolve.
