General description

1-Bromododecane is antimicrobial agent.

Application

1-Bromododecane was used in the synthesis of antimicrobial nanocomposite composed of reduced graphene oxide. It was used in the synthesis of quaternary ammonium chloride-modified poly(propylenimine) dendrimers. It was used as starting reagent in the synthesis of (-)-muricatacin.

  • Adsorption Studies for Environmental Remediation: Acrylamide-based hydrogels have been extensively studied for their effectiveness in adsorbing contaminants from aqueous solutions. Research has demonstrated that polyacrylic acid-acrylamide grafted starch hydrogels are highly effective in removing dyes like malachite green from water. These green adsorbents offer an eco-friendly solution for treating industrial effluents, showcasing acrylamide′s utility in environmental cleanup efforts (Al-Aidy et al., International Journal of Environmental Analytical Chemistry, 2020).

  • Microextraction Techniques for Food Safety: Acrylamide solutions are used in microextraction procedures to detect contaminants in food samples. A notable application involves using electrospun nanostructured membranes to extract acrylamide from pet food samples, enhancing the sensitivity and accuracy of detection. This technique is essential for ensuring food safety and compliance with regulatory standards (Basheer, International Journal of Analytical Chemistry, 2021).

  • Health Risk Assessment in Food Products: Acrylamide levels in food products, particularly in instant coffee, have been assessed using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Studies have quantified acrylamide content and evaluated potential health risks, emphasizing the need for monitoring and mitigating acrylamide formation during food processing (Karami et al., International Journal of Environmental Analytical Chemistry, 2022).

  • Synthesis of Composite Materials for Heavy Metal Removal: Acrylamide is used in synthesizing composite materials, such as starch-acrylamide/nanohalloysite composites, for removing heavy metals from water. These materials exhibit high efficiency in adsorbing molybdenum(VI) ions, contributing to advancements in water purification technologies and highlighting acrylamide′s role in developing innovative environmental solutions (Elsharma et al., Radiation Physics and Chemistry, 2022).

  • Development of Green Adsorbents: The grafting of acrylamide onto various substrates has led to the creation of efficient and sustainable adsorbents for environmental applications. These green adsorbents are pivotal in addressing pollution by providing a cost-effective and environmentally friendly method for removing pollutants from water and soil (Al-Aidy et al., International Journal of Environmental Analytical Chemistry, 2020).

We have prepared an antimicrobial nanocomposite composed of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) using antimicrobial agents and catechol derivative conjugated to polyethylene glycol-grafted poly(dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate) (PEG-g-PDMA). Graphene oxide (GO) has been simultaneously reduced by 2-chloro-3',4'-dihydroxyacetophenone (CCDP) in Tris buffer at pH

Four different quaternary ammonium chloride-modified poly(propylenimine) (PPI) dendrimers were synthesized by alkylation of a PPI dendrimer having eight dimethylamino end groups with 1-bromooctane or 1-bromododecane. By varying the mole ratio of alkyl bromide to dendrimer, averages of 4-10 quaternary ammonium

The synthesis of (-)-muricatacin starting from 1-bromododecane and 2-pentyn-1-ol is described. 2-Pentadecyn-1-ol (4), which was prepared from 1-bromododecane (2) and 2-pentyn-1-ol (3), was converted to epoxy alcohol 6 through a two-step reaction sequence, 6 being successively submitted to tosylation, iodination
