General description

Cyrene 2-Methyltetrahydrofuran Blend with BHT as an inhibitor is specially formulated for use in automated processes and applications where lower viscosity is required, making it easier to handle while maintaining high yields.

This Cyrene blend is an alternative for NMP and DMF in many cross-coupling reactions. Neither Cyrene nor 2-Methyltetrahydrofuran have any genotoxic or mutagenic concerns associated with their use, making them much safer alternatives to traditional aprotic solvents.

This new blend is part of our Biorenewable product line, meaning that it is made from renewable resources and does not compete with food resources for its production, making it more environmentally sustainable for the future. The material has also been independently certified as 100% renewable carbon.
We are committed to bringing you greener alternative products, which adhere to one or more of The 12 Principles of Greener Chemistry. This product is BioRenewable and thus aligns with "Safer Solvents and Auxiliaries" and "Use of Renewable Feedstocks". Click here for more information.

Application

This cosolvent solution has been shown to have similar reaction yields to NMP and DMF for many cross-coupling reactions, such as:

Features and Benefits

  • Independently certified as 100% renewable carbon.
  • Closer physical properties of NMP and DMF while maintaining high reaction yields.
  • Sustainably produced and environmentally less hazardous than more traditional petroleum aprotic solvents
  • Both Cyrene and 2-MeTHF are also much safer for handling without the genotoxic concerns of other solvents.
  • It has a lower viscosity than neat Cyrene making it more optimized for automated processes.

  1. What is a BioRenewable solvent?

BioRenewable solvents are sourced from renewable and sustainable biobased materials, such as soy/palm oil, wood waste, hay or corn byproducts, etc. It is important to highlight that our BioRenewable products do not compete with food production.

  2. Why should you use BioRenewable solvents?

You will contribute to create a sustainable world, significantly lowering environmental impact. Biorenewable solvents also decrease petroleum sources dependency, have higher recovery rates, and/or are safer for handling and disposal.

  3. Do BioRenewable solvents have a similar quality to petroleum-based solvents?

BioRenewable solvents can have the same or higher purity level compared to traditional solvents. These solvents are free of the many byproducts of petroleum manufacturing, such as benzene, aldehydes, and ethers.

Our team of scientists has experience in all areas of research including Life Science, Material Science, Chemical Synthesis, Chromatography, Analytical and many others.
