Application
Cesium chloride has been used as a component of pipette solution, to record mechanosensitive currents in dorsal root ganglia neurons. It has been used in patch clamping to study neurons in intact myenteric ganglia.
Used for the preparation of electrically conducting glasses.Used to make solutions for the separation of RNA from DNA by density gradient centrifugation.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Oral intake of cesium chloride is known to increase the pH in cancer cells. Mild toxicity of cesium chloride might cause hypotension, gastrointestinal distress, numbness and syncope. It also leads to severe hypokalemia, hypomagnesemia, acute heart attack and polymorphic ventricular tachycardia in episodes.
Analysis Note
Solutions may contain a slight haze.

The knowledge about cesium metabolism and toxicity is sparse. Oral intake of cesium chloride has been widely promoted on the basis of the hypothesis referred to as "high pH cancer therapy", a complimentary alternative medicine method for cancer treatment. However
