General description
Potassium chloride (KCl) is useful in studies of ion transport and potassium channels. KCl is known to be used in the crystallization of histone core octamers.
Application
Potassium chloride has been used:
- as a component of Danieau medium and also used in the preparation of phosphate buffer saline
- in the preparation of electrolyte solution for electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry measurements
- as a component of HEPES (4-(2-hydroxyethyl)-1-piperazineethanesulfonic acid)-buffered Tyrode′s solution
May be used for the preparation of phosphate buffered saline, and for the extraction and solubilization of proteins.
