General description

Monoclonal Anti-VPS4A (mouse IgG1 isotype) is derived from the hybridoma VPS4-110 produced by the fusion of mouse myeloma cells and splenocytes from BALB/c mice immunized with a synthetic peptide corresponding to a fragment of human VPS4A, conjugated to KLH.
Vacuolar-protein-sorting factor 4A (VPS4A) is an AAAtype ATPase, encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 16q22.1. The encoded protein is a member of vacuolar sorting protein family. The protein is characterized by a canonical AAA ATPase cassette followed by an N-terminal MIT (microtubule interacting and trafficking) domain.

Application

Monoclonal Anti-VPS4A antibody has been used in
  • immunoblotting
  • immunoprecipitation
  • immunolabelling

Biochem/physiol Actions

Vacuolar-protein-sorting factor 4A (VPS4A) plays a vital role in lysosomal/endosomal membrane trafficking. It is also involved in the regulation of exosome biogenesis. Downregulated expression of the gene leads to the development of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Thus, VPS4 is considered to be an effective tumor suppressor for HCC. Mutation of the gene leads to defective multivesicular body formation.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide as a preservative.
