Application

1,4-Dimethylnaphtalene is a growth inhibitor used to enhance dormancy and retard sprouting in harvested potatoes. It has a very low aqueous solubility and is highly volatile. As per the regulation (EC) No 1107/2009 it is approved for use as plant protection product in the European Union. Maximum residuel levels (MRLs) have been set for 1,4-dimethylnaphthalene according Reg. (EU) No 2022/1346 for various products of plant and animal origin from 0.05 - 15 mg/kg. The certified reference material (CRM) is intended to be used as a calibrant for chromatography and other analytical techniques.
